Useless Sacrifice

We were born with nothing. As babies, we were just hungry and cried all day. We didn't care about other people's conditions or opinions. We didn't expect or assume anything.

We were just being human.

Time flies. As we grow, we become progressive thinkers. We think about how to create more great things,  to make more money. We think about every step that—again—we think will lead us to happiness, the most abstract thing in the world.

To achieve happiness, we sacrifice so much. We give up so many pleasures. We forget about our precious time to own shiny things. We voluntarily give our salaries to our parents, in the name of the sandwich generation. We eat less so our loved ones can eat more. We move aside so that others can sit in our comfortable place. We believe that someday our tears will be repaid.

But do we really think that everything we do is a sacrifice?

Because no one ever asked us to do the things we call sacrifice. They didn't ask us to do painful acts. No one ordered us to have the same standard of living or way of thinking. The system did.

So, I think we are fool enough to realize that we are just making a useless sacrifice. We're being fooled. Literally.

And here I am, crying over my foolishness in making sacrifices to unnecessary agenda. At the same time, I also know that I just can't stop to make another useless sacrifices.
